About this event
The ATLAS (ATLantic Academy of Space) Summer Academy is an educational initiative that will introduce Atlantic Canadian high school students to space exploration, artificial intelligence (AI), engineering, and technology through an intensive two-week CubeSat satellite design program at Dalhousie University. ATLAS will be led by SuperNOVA at Dalhousie University, GALAXIA Mission Systems, and Dalhousie Space Systems Lab, who will collaborate to deliver a high level of program interaction with meaningful experiences to empower youth to find confidence and success in STEM. Program activities will be centered around space exploration, tying in engineering concepts and artificial intelligence (AI) applications, as well as software and hardware development, instilling a range of mathematics and computer science. Participants will spend a significant portion of the day in a classroom setting with other activities being offered during breaks and after sessions have ended. Participants enrolled in a Nova Scotia public high school will be eligible to receive a personal development credit after completing all of the requirements for the program. NOTE: The Summer Academy will facilitate two cohorts of 30 participants each in a free-of-charge, two-week program during the summer of 2024 at Dalhousie University, spaces are available on an application basis only. Applying does not guarantee a spot. Please only apply for one of the two-week spots, not both.
